The encodon and the parallels between embryogenesis and the making of proteins

Abstract

The ENCODON model of gene expression allows some new perspectives on the relationship between DNA, RNA and Protein and how genetic information becomes structure and function in the cell. A survey of the model is presented and its application to influenza is used to show its operation in an evolutionary context.
